Oil routing

Hey look - Black Pipes!
Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of the matte, so I'll have to find a gloss high temp paint to make this something I can get behind.

But this post is about the sweet oil lines. they are so hard.

Got the lines all bend in to shape.
I realized after doing this, that there is also a vent hose for the primary, and I can't have three hard lines and one rubber, so i ended up having to bend up one more.
But before all that, I decided it was time to see if my sprained ankle was well enough to get back on the foot clutch. It was!
After all that fun, I started to make guides for the hard lines.

I still need to clean up the guides and weld tabs to them and the frame then they will be mounted in place.

Took a paint break

Decided chrome pipes was to obvious.
Got these fuckers ready to go black.
- they ended up matte black, which i don't like. I'm gonna have to try and find a gloss high temp paint.

okay this was the real break i was talking about. I told a friend i would do this forever-ago, finally got it done.

Also helped out my buddy Myles with his pan on some frame painting. We bought nail polish on advice from the internet - don't do it. nail polish on powder coat is a bad idea and doesn't work because of the alcohol in the paint. thanks again internet and your 'wealth' of knowledge, we ended up using some oneshot.

Stripping

i started to lay out tape guides for stripping, two thin pin stripes one red one white down the center.

and after i painted them in, i hated it. absolutely hated it.
so i took a different approach.

Anubis took over, and when i came though my tanks looked good.

After laying down the gold, i realized that i didnt follow the base line of the gas tank, which i intentally aligned with the crease in the oil tank. So i had to fix that.

A bit of sanding and more stripping later.

Seat foamin

Not the best foam job, but it will do the trick. its three layers of a thick yoga mat and one layer of race foam, donated by a kind fella over at Team Obsolete, i guess they were fans that I'm adding a kicker pedal, and removing the electric starter to this modern bike.

Ready for its new skin

time is running out. gotta get this seat pan ready for its new skin.

added a rear lip to help connect it with the oil tank

shameless tig shot, as well as holes drilled for the rivets

the oil tank isn't fixed in place yet, hopefully that gap can be cleaned up a bit.

current thought on how the skin will look.

Painting not my bike

I need to stop saying yes to friends. I haven't spent much time working on my build. I have been helping a buddy by painting his tanks and fender for his shovel. Still need to finish the fender and clear.
