As all good projects start, the first step is inspiration.

With this project, my first thought was to chop it, and make a sweet hard tail from it. This was the plan before I even aquired the bike. I was pretty dead set on this, until Mr. Matt "chop them all" Landman suggested to start first with keeping it a swing arm, because I can always hard tail it later, and it will be crazy hard to bring it back to a swing arm. Plus it will be a bit of a softer blow on my wallet, and ass, which is always a plus.
